The world of metal packaging for a sustainable future

The UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to promote sustainability and tackle global poverty. They set out ambitious targets to be reached by 2030, which will help change the world we live in for the better.

Metal Packaging Europe has released a website entitled "The world of metal packaging for a sustainable future". The digital publication showcases some of the activities and commitments MPE Members have undertaken to increase sustainability in the metal packaging industry.

As an infinitely recyclable permanent material, metal is ideally placed to contribute to a sustainable, circular economy. By aligning sustainability priorities with the relevant SDGs, the metal packaging industry aims to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, the industry is taking significant steps to integrate sustainable practices into the production process.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) where MPE Members are the most active are SDGs 6, 9, 12 and 13.

- Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6)
- Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9)
- Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)
- Climate Action (SDG 13)

A downloadable infographic providing a bright status at a glance go with each Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) where MPE Members have performed.
